The Yevgeny Kushnaryov Foundation for Democracy Initiatives Support was founded in late October 2007. Having thought about the idea of the Foundation we arrived at the conclusion that the best way to commemorate Yevgeny Kushnaryov is pursue with the ideas that mattered to him. Kharkiv has seen Yevgeny Kushnaryov in different roles: as an ideologist of democratic transformations of the 90-s, city's first mayor, elected through first democratic elections, a deputy of the first democratic Parliament, which was called to lay the basis for Ukrainian national identity and democracy. Standing for the idea of self-government, he was the first to tell his compatriots that they can and should govern their city.Yevgeny Kushnaryov gave a helping hand to talented young people, having created a Foundation, which now supports them. No matter what he was at different stages of his life, a politician, or a mayor, a governor or a deputy- Yevgeny Kushnaryov has always strived to be the first. That is in his endeavors and life expectations. Yevgeny Kushnaryov wanted his beloved Kharkiv to be the first, Ukraine to be the first in everything. He aimed to be ahead of time and to speed it up.
The Yevgeny Kushnaryov Foundation for Democracy Initiatives Support will pursue with the things that Yevgeny Kushnaryov has started. We want to be useful for Kharkiv and Ukraine and we are open to everyone on this road.
